The Eye of the Beholder: Unlocking Your Personal Masterpiece

Your Performance is Art — Time to Reflect!

Hey TAH Team,

Did you find that right balance of motivation last week? Time to reflect on it with this week’s theme…

Week Theme:

“The Art of Reflection - Using Reflection to Improve Future Performance”

Weekly Info:

I was chatting with some young athletes about art. For some reason, I thought everyone would get an A in art class, but I was wrong.

I figured that because “art is in the eye of the beholder,” they’d all see their work as their own form of art, right? Turns out, that wasn’t the case…

But here’s the thing — just like art, our performance is personal and unique to us. It’s our own masterpiece. And the key to making it better? Reflecting on it.

I recently spoke with Rob Thorsen from HT40 Foundation. Rob shared a powerful story about how the foundation, started in honor of his son who tragically passed away, is bringing impactful art to the world. This conversation was somber, yet filled with purpose. You can check it out here.

We also dove deep into this theme in the latest deep dive episode. Don’t miss it!

Exclusive Trick: Reflect on Your Art

Some art is created in 2 minutes; others take 2 decades. Regardless of time, every piece has layers of interpretation and reflection.

Exclusive Action Tools:

  1. Find your art: Recognize the masterpieces within your performance. We all excel at something. Identify your art — what gets you standing out?

  2. Create with intent: Next time you perform, do so with purpose. Know that you’re crafting your art in that moment.

  3. Reflect like an art critic: Just like a gallery visit, take the time to interpret and reflect on your own masterpiece. What can you refine?

Closing:

If we know we can create art, and it’s within our control, then reflecting on it only sharpens our skill. Interpret your own work, reflect on it, and go out there to create again.

Let me know how your art, your creation, and your reflection go!

Cheers to reflecting,

Gabe
