Pressure's Rising, Are You?

Mental Training to Handle the Fireworks of Performance

Hey TAH Titans,

How’s your summer going? Can you believe July 4th has already come and gone? Those fireworks boomed and popped, and so did some thoughts about mental performance.

I’ve got a special gift at the bottom of this email, so make sure to read all the way through!

Week Theme:

The Silent Edge: Why Mental Training Isn't Optional Anymore

Weekly Info:

Go check out some youth baseball, volleyball, or football. You name it.

What do you see?

I see events that are exploding… BOOM! POW! Intense competition is rising fast. Players are getting better and younger.

Rec league? Hang it up. These days, it’s club by age five or dive into something else because that’s what the sport landscape is turning into.

I talked more about this in this week’s deep dive episode, but let’s jump into a quick mental exercise to help navigate and perform under this growing pressure.

Exclusive Exercise: Firework Madness

Every 4th of July, the fireworks feel a little more intense. But somehow, we adapt. Youth sports are following that same path with more intensity, more noise, more chaos.

Let’s build our athletes’ ability to adapt too.

Exclusive Action Tools:

  1. Mental Skills: Obviously, duh, Gabe. But seriously, with all the extra practice and training happening, we can’t afford to let the mind be the weak link. These skills need to be taught.

  2. Mental Reps: Just like reps in the gym, our brain needs regular repetition to strengthen. Whether it’s breathing, journaling, or quick resets, stack those mental reps.

  3. Mental Awareness: When we build this early (preseason, in-season, etc.), we help athletes recognize pressure and manage it before it manages them. They grow with the challenge, not collapse under it.

In Action:

I see it all the time in the athletes and teams I work with. Depending on how they were raised, who’s supporting them, and their ability to mentally link with their physical game, some rise, some plateau, and others start to dip.

Both sides matter. Some athletes adapt and take off, while others struggle to handle the added pressure. Mental training is the separator.

Closing:

Hope you had a fun and safe Fourth of July!

Let’s also take this time to highlight the booming power mental training has, especially as youth sports keep rising in intensity.

We’re here to make sure athletes learn the tools to grow, not just compete.

The pressures they face aren’t slowing down. Let’s help them rise above it.

Talk soon,

Gabe

P.S. I made some mental imagery audio recordings, like fireworks for your focus! If you reply to this email, I’ll send you the link to the full collection as a thank-you for being part of the TAH Titan team.
