Exclusive TAH Team Trick and Tools

Hey TAH Team,

Who else should I invite to the Email Newsletter? I’m working on some big things for you in 2025… stay tuned and let me know!

Week Theme:

Ego and Humility in Sports – Finding the Balance for Growth and Teamwork

Weekly Info:

You had to go through every single part of the journey to get there—even if it was by plane, you passed through every stop along the way.

The point is, we can’t skip any of the steps on the mountain we’re climbing. Teleporting isn’t an option.

Our ego drives us up, but humility ensures we don’t miss the essential steps along the way.

I’ve never experienced a story quite like the one Jackson Johannes shared about breaking the Drake Relays 400m record. It was an incredible conversation that blew up the podcast! You can check it out here.

In addition, I dove into some of my absolute favorite tips, tricks, and tools in this week’s deep dive episode.

Exclusive Trick:

The Manitou Incline is a steep, converted train track in Colorado that’s become a popular hiking destination. It’s the perfect metaphor for this week’s theme.

While we might skip a step here or there, depending on our skill level, we ultimately have to take the entire hike to reach the top.

Our ego tells us how many steps we think we can skip, while our humility keeps us grounded, telling us when to take breaks and how much we can realistically manage.

Exclusive Action Tools:

  1. Mark the top of the destination:

    1. Before starting the journey, even if teleportation were an option, we need to know exactly where we’re headed.

  2. Set up the steps we believe we can take:

    1. Confidence is key. Let the ego propel you forward, giving you the belief that you can tackle the hike. Plan steps that match your abilities.

  3. Prepare for humility ahead:

    1. Challenges are inevitable. Just like the steep incline of Manitou, we need to be ready for those moments of struggle. Embrace humility—it’s the friend that keeps us moving.

Closing:

Finding the balance between ego and humility is the key to progress.

We won’t teleport; instead, we’ll take every step along the journey. Ego gives us the confidence to know the steps are achievable, while humility keeps us grounded, helping us navigate tough moments and rely on teammates when needed (more on that for another day!).

Let me know your destination, how you’re building confidence and ego, and how humility is keeping you steady!

Keep climbing, Gabe

P.S. Seriously, this was probably the best week of podcast content. I STRONGLY suggest to check out Jackson’s convo and the deep dive!

P.P.S. Share this newsletter with someone this week! It would make my day so much! I promise the favor is becoming returned come the new year…
