Hey TAH Team,

Let me know who you’re sharing these newsletters with! Over the holidays I got to chat with a few people who heard about TAH through you, it was awesome connecting with people I didn’t even know!

Week Theme:

The Noise Around Us - Blocking It Out and Using It To Our Advantage.

Weekly Info:

I remember a time when a knock at the door would fill me with excitement.

I also remember watching a scary movie, hearing a knock, and diving under the covers.

Noise knocks all the time in our endeavors, but how we answer determines the outcomes we create.

This week, we didn’t focus solely on noise, but we did discuss the new and upcoming challenges ahead with Angie Knies, who returned as the first 2x guest and first in-studio guest (In-studio quality is improving, I promise!).

Additionally, this week’s Deep Dive episode explored the noise around us in depth.

Exclusive Trick: Knocking Noise

When we hear a knock at the door, we have two options:

  1. Sprint to the door, check it out, and decide whether to block it (like ignoring a random salesman) or open it wide (like greeting Santa!).

  2. Freeze in place, overthink, and let the “mind tornado” keep us stuck in indecision.

The trick is to take action. Let’s answer the knocking noise.

Exclusive Action Tools:

  1. Sprint to the noise: Don’t stay frozen. I’m not saying we let the noise change us, but getting into motion keeps us from stagnating.

  2. Check it out: Is it good, bad, neutral, or imaginary? Noise is just stimuli, and checking it out helps us decide if it’s worth attention.

  3. Use it or lose it: Block out unhelpful noise or harness it to fuel concentration and move forward with blistering focus.

Closing:

The noise will always knock. It’s up to us whether we freeze at the sound or step up, check it out, and decide our next move.

Go sprint to the door, check it out, and see if it’s worth opening to new opportunities or keeping it closed to stay focused.

Knock Knock,

Gabe

P.S. Seriously, let me know who you’re sharing these with! I love hearing about it and having more conversations around the mental game.
