Hot Head or Cold Pro

How to Keep Your Cool When the Pressure Rises

Hey TAH Titans,

What’s the latest with your June? Staying cool in these rising temperatures?

Week Theme:

Controlling the Temperature to Performing Under Pressure

Weekly Info:

Ever seen that person who loses it over nothing? Or the one who stays composed when everything’s falling apart?

We’re all somewhere between those two extremes. The hothead we try to avoid, and the ice-cold performer we strive to become.

The good news is that ice-cold control can be trained.

Check out this concept in our podcast episode from two weeks ago. We broke down what it takes to stay cool when the pressure cranks up. (This past week’s episode we stayed cool in a practice pitch presentation, which we redrafted somewhat drastically!)

Exclusive Exercise: Kool-Aid Quencher (Oh yeah!)

On the hottest summer day, a cold glass of Kool-Aid hits different. That same feeling, refreshing, steady, and energized, is what we want in pressure moments.

Exclusive Action Tools:

  1. Pour the sugar: Know your fuel. What gives you that second wind or bounce-back ability when things heat up?

  2. Drink it: Soak up the big moment. The heat means you're doing something special. Embrace it.

  3. Stay cool: Stay composed even when you're “on fire.” It’s not about emotionless play. It’s about inner calm in outer chaos.

In Action:

Last week some hoopers asked me, “How’d the Murray Twins make it to the NBA?”

I asked back, “What do you notice when they play?”

They said, “They don’t really react to anything.”

Exactly.

They don’t let the moment own them. They own the moment. They’ve trained to keep their internal temperature stable no matter the external pressure. That’s their flavor of Kool-Aid.

Closing:

Summer’s heating up. The game doesn’t slow down for anyone, but your mind can. Find your Kool-Aid. Know what fuels you. Drink it when it counts. Stay cool in every high-heat moment.

Stay cool,

Gabe

P.S. Let’s figure out your Kool-Aid this summer. Training is in full swing. Reply if you want to talk about your custom mental exercises.
