Hey TAH Team,

I’ve updated some business cards — let me know if you want some to hand out!

It’s starting to get cold out there. What’s your go-to favorite winter apparel?

I recently slipped some cards into my coat pocket, and it actually worked really well.

Week Theme:

Navigating Setbacks — Turning Setbacks into Comebacks

Weekly Info:

I ask about your favorite winter gear because it does one crucial thing: it keeps the heat inside and blocks out the freezing air outside.

We may debate between a coat or a flannel, but in a rush, we know what we’re grabbing.

It’s the same with confidence. We might weigh this trick against that one, but once we’ve developed a solid routine, it becomes our go-to “grab-out-the-door,” keeping our confidence hot and protected from the outside chill.

This week’s podcast guest was the CEO of an infrared technology company called ReCharge Health, which focuses on health and recovery. He also holds a PhD in Philosophy of Science, so naturally, we covered everything from the science of light to the science of the mind here!

Additionally, we dove into five tricks, tips, and tools for building confidence through routine in this week’s deep dive here.

Exclusive Trick: Coat Hanger Confidence

Just like the coat hanger by the door holds our go-to winter coat for all the winter setbacks, our confidence needs to be ready and waiting for us to grab as we head out.

Making it an easy routine to bring confidence wherever we go — throughout the day, week, or season — means battling the cold set backs becomes second nature, like grabbing our coat in winter.

Exclusive Action Tools:

Here are three ways to deliberately beat the cold and build the confidence every day. It may sound funny, but these methods reinforce focus and repetition. Bonus: you can track it with data if you want!

  1. Grab the Coat – Bring the Confidence:

    1. When bundling up for a game or practice, visualize putting on your confidence along with your coat. It’s a mental preset to prepare for the task ahead.

  2. Shiver the Warmth:

    1. Sitting in the car, shivering while it warms up? Use that moment to think about parts of your game or day you can focus on to boost your confidence, just like those shivers warm you up.

  3. Hood Up:

    1. A hood makes a coat feel 20 degrees warmer! Routinely “put your hood up” in confidence — figuratively and literally — and don’t take it off. Whether it’s outside criticism or internal doubts, your confidence “hood” will block it out.

Closing:

This list isn’t exhaustive, BUT it’s a great start.

If you want to track progress (because I love data), create a quick note or spreadsheet to log every time you grab your coat and mentally grab your confidence, too.

Ultimately, this winter air is tough and can set us back enough already, so we’ll save the snowstorm strategies for another time ;)

Grab and go!
