Don't Let the Ghosts Set the Game Plan

Uncovering the Mental Blocks You Didn't Know Were There

Hey TAH Titans,

Quick update after finally catching our breath from a week packed with meetings and energy at a business conference. So many things are coming down the pipeline for the rest of the summer. If you’ve ever felt like you're at the starting line of something big but not sure what step to take first, then you’ll get this week's theme.

I want to keep some more conversations going here, so text me or reply to this email!

Week Theme:

The Hidden Ghosts That Haunt Performance

Weekly Info:

Have you ever driven down a road you’ve taken a hundred times?

Same route, same turns, nothing new.

But for me, this day was different. A thick fog had rolled in. You know the kind, low to the ground, drifting, dense enough that even with headlights, I couldn’t see more than a few feet ahead.

I slowed down. Kept going. But every move felt tense. It wasn't that anything bad was happening, but something about not being able to see made everything feel harder.

It made me think way more than usual. Instead of simply performing on autopilot, I was overthinking every little move.

That fog? That’s exactly what the ghosts of motivation feel like. They don’t slam the brakes. They just cloud the way. We feel slower, hesitant, unsure. Not because we can’t perform, but because we can’t see what’s actually blocking us. It haunts us from deep within.

That’s where this week’s deep dive comes in: Spotting the Silent Mental Blocks (aka Ghosts): You Can’t Fight What You Don’t See. If you haven’t already, give it a listen.

Exclusive Exercise: Ghost Trap

Ever watched Ghostbusters? Well, we’ve got someone you're going to call... and it’s yourself (or TAH, I suppose, LOL). Think of this as the blueprint to identify, remove, and prevent mental blocks from creeping in unnoticed.

Exclusive Action Steps:

1. Understand the Invisible Ghosts of Motivation

Where are you hesitating? Where are you stalling? Name the fear or doubt hiding in the fog. If something’s holding you back, make it visible. Find it.

2. Remove the Ghosts from Your Mind

Once you spot it, say it. Write it. Externalize it. Get it out in front of you so it doesn’t drift out of sight again. It loses its grip once it’s outside your head and right in front of you.

3. Keep the Ghosts Out for Good

Build your mental system with a reset cue, pregame prep, or a mental checklist. Something as simple as a breath before a rep or a post-set reflection can be enough to keep those ghosts from sneaking back in.

In Action:

I was talking with an athlete last week who's been hitting every lift, every workout, every skill drill. We were really leveling up their mental strength, commitment, and outcomes. But when it came to following the game plan during competition, they stalled.

We dug into it. The ghost? Fear of being “the reason” their team lost.

Once they named it, we created a routine with pregame reset cues, in-game micro-wins, and reinforced moments of clarity. The result? More ownership, more calm, and the game plan finally stuck.

Closing:

The fog only has power if you let it sit. These ghosts only control the game plan if we let them stay unseen. Shine the light this week. Slow down if you need to, but keep driving forward.

Catch you next week,

Gabe

P.S. These convos with you are some of the most valuable things I do. If this ghost concept hits, or if you’ve got a story of your own, reply here or shoot me a text. I’d love to keep the conversation going. Your conversations help keep scaling TAH!
