Are Distractions Winning? It's Time to Deal Like the House
Exclusive TAH Team Trick n Tools
Hey TAH Team,
Do you look forward to these emails?
Week Theme:
Dealing with Distractions – Strategies to Maintain Focus Amidst Distractions
Weekly Info:
Did you know I once tried ADHD meds?
Yeah, it just wasn’t for me.
But I totally get the struggle of running back into the house five times because you keep forgetting things.
Another thing I haven’t done in a while—but really love—is playing poker.
Whether it's Texas Hold'em or Blackjack, I’m all in, trying to outsmart the house. But as the saying goes, “the house always wins.”
And in this case, the “house” is the dealer.
Fortunately, there are some great “dealers” out there! One of them is Dr. Tom Ingegno, an acupuncture and cupping expert from Maryland. We had a great conversation about how physical stress ties into the mental game. You can check it out here, and now on YouTube!
This week’s Deep Dive episode explores different ways to manage distractions that you may not heard of...
Exclusive Trick: Distraction Dealer
The house always wins, right?
Well, let’s make YOU the house.
If you start dealing the game, controlling the stimuli, and taking charge of distractions, you have the power to win—just like the house.
We’re often told that getting distracted is our problem, and the solution might be medication, as in my case.
But what if you could learn to be the house? What if you could deal the distractions instead of receiving them and win the day?
Exclusive Action Tools:
Start by listing your biggest distractions—maybe even write them on note cards.
Write down your favorite ways to get in the zone, stay focused, and lock in.
Deal them out! You can make it a matching game, an “apples-to-apples” style comparison, or even simple flashcards.
You might not literally write your distractions on cards (although it’s not a bad idea), but at least identify them so you, as the dealer, know what cards are being played in your game of life and performance.
Closing:
Now more than ever, distractions are all around us. Let’s not give all the power to the house—let’s become the house. Take control, deal with distractions on your terms, and win the day.

Keep Dealing,
Gabe
P.S. Speaking of upgrades, like the quick survey question above… I’ve made some changes to the website as part of my ongoing improvements. Once I’m confident in this version, I’ll switch over to the official domain. Check it out and let me know your thoughts, or respond to the question at the start of the email!
